I would be remiss if I did not share some of the amazing art I saw in New York City. This was my first time in the Big Apple, and I promise it will not be my last. My daughter is doing research on her thesis project, and it just so happened that there are three museums in New York that contain a wealth of material for her. I just tagged along.
Three Days, Three Museums
I am a tag reader. I try not to be, but it’s impossible. If I am in a museum, I am going to read about what I am looking at. Then I am going to look at the actual thing. So I cannot be hurried along. Our first stop was the Morgan Library and Museum; an incredible collection of books, manuscripts and art. Oh, and it just so happened to have an exhibit celebrating 250 of Jane Austen. I am a HUGE fan, and just finished the new mini series, “Miss Austen” which focused on the letters between Jane and her sister Cassandra. And guess what I saw with my own eyes at the Morgan Library? This was not even planned. We didn’t know about this exhibit until after we had already booked our trip. Happy Early Birthday to me!

We spent the entire next day at The Met Cloisters, which was amazing as well. The grounds are gorgeous and we had lunch in the cafe around one of the gardens.

Our last day was spent at the Met…and we only made it about halfway through. We saw the Medieval area, the John Singer Sargent in Paris exhibit (An early Christmas present to me), the ancient Egyptian area, and a good bit of the European art up to about 1700s. SO much more to see…I will be returning!
