DESCRIPTION:Each week we will explore a different approach to abstract painting with acrylics. All materials supplied. Suitable for ages 12 and up\, and you do not need any experience with abstract painting. \nClass 1: Bold and Expressive – Abstract Expressionism\nCapture emotion through movement and color! In this class\, you’ll explore the spontaneous\, energetic techniques of Abstract Expressionism. Learn to use sweeping brushstrokes\, layering\, and intuitive mark-making to create paintings that express feeling rather than form. \nClass 2: Simple and Striking – Minimalist Abstraction\nMaster the art of “less is more.” In this session\, you’ll create sophisticated abstracts using limited color palettes\, clean lines\, and plenty of open space. We’ll focus on balance\, subtle contrast\, and creating a strong visual impact with simplicity. \nClass 3: Broken and Beautiful – Cubist-Inspired Abstraction\nTake inspiration from Cubism! We’ll explore how to break down real-world objects into geometric planes and rearrange them into fresh abstract compositions. Expect lots of angles\, overlapping shapes\, and creative reinterpretation of familiar forms. \nClass 4: Depth in Simplicity – Monochromatic Abstraction\nDiscover the richness of a single color family. You’ll work with one main color (plus black and white) to explore value\, texture\, and subtle tonal shifts. This class focuses on creating emotional\, atmospheric abstracts through careful layering and contrast.
